On July 24th Atari Teenage Riot suddenly took over the mainstage at FUSION FESTIVAL near Berlin, Germany.

The crowd smashed the barriers and invaded the stage during the song “Revolution Action”.

Director Zan Lyons was able to capture what was happening on camera.

Alec Empire:” It was surreal! Totally amazing crowd! Nothing got broke, nobody got hurt! Fusion Festival is a great event. There is no corporate sponsorship, it is politically charged as well. The alternative is possible, we just have to make it become real! We make music so people participate and join in…we don’t want people to just consume that stuff in a passive way… so of course for us playing Fusion in 2010 was mindblowing!”

BUFFETLIBRE ANNOUNCE THE OFFICIAL LINE UP FOR THEIR NEW PROJECT PEACE, IN COLLABORATION WITH AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

Ryuichi Sakamoto, Marc Almond and 4Hero, amongst many others artists from over 50 countries, join the new project by Barcelona djs Buffetlibre.

All proceeds from the sale of the compilation will go to Amnesty International’s humanitarian aid projects in areas of conflict.

Four months before the release of PEACE, Buffetlibre announce the line up of this new initiative, co-produced by Amnesty International, that will Include exclusive songs by musicians from over 50 countries. The resulting compilation will be digitally available worldwide in January 2010, letting listeners pick their own price for the album, with a minimum of ?2. All proceeds will go to Amnesty International’s humanitarian aid projects in areas of conflict.

The line up of PEACE is comprised of some of the most important, popular and innovative artists around the world, with the clear goal of merging a stylistic variety. Headlined by the Oscar winner and founding member of the historic Yellow Magic Orchestra Ryuichi Sakamoto, Soft Cell’s frontman Marc Almond and early pioneers of drum & bass music 4Hero, dozens of amazing artists as Tahiti 80, Dubstar, Patrick Wolf, Vive la Fete, I’m from Barcelona and Bonde do Role, to name only a few, comprise the lineup of this new adventure by Buffetlibre.

GEGEN HOMOPHOBIE ? SOLIDARIT?T MIT DEN OPFERN DES ANSCHLAGS IN TEL AVIV

Mit Entsetzen,Trauer und Wut haben wir von dem Anschlag auf das lesbisch-schwule-transgender (LGTQ)-Zentrum in Tel Aviv erfahren.
Dort hat ein maskierter Mann am Samstag Abend die dortige Jugendgruppe ?berfallen und wahlos mit einem Maschinengewehr auf die Teenager geschossen.
Eine 17j?hrige und ein 24j?hriger starben, 15 weitere wurden z.T. schwer verletzt.
Der Mann konnte unerkannt entkommen. Er versuchte noch in eine weitere Schwulenbar einzudringen, wurde aber vom dortigen Sicherheitspersonal abgewehrt.

Auch wenn noch nicht klar ist, aus welchem Kreis der M?rder kommt, ist eines klar :
Dieser Anschlag ist ein ganz gezielt Hassverbrechen. Ein Verbrechen gegen die LGT-Szene.
Im Gegensatz zum religi?sen Jerusalem ist Tel Aviv als sehr offen-liberale und homofreundliche Metrople bekannt, umso gr??er die Betroffenheit dort.
Aber es kommt nicht von ungef?hr: So wird unter der neuen konservativen Regierung allgemein ein Klima gegen Minderheiten gesch?rt, so gegen Homosexuelle und Fl?chtlinge.
Die ultra-relig?se Schass-Partei hetzt seit Jahren aufs ?belste gegen Homosexuelle, ihr religi?ser F?hrer rief 2005 anl?sslich des CSDs in Jerusalem sogar zum Mord auf; ohne Konsequenzen.

Unser ganzes Mitgef?hl gilt den Betroffenen und Angeh?rigen, unsere Solidarit?t der LGTQ-Szene in Israel !!!!

This is a song I did with the Iranian singer, Sussan Deyhim, which will be presented as part of the protest situation – we’re presenting it with United 4 Iran.

The poem is based on a work by the poet Rumi from several centuries ago, but it still resonates with today’s geopolitics – it’s in Farsi, but for English speakers, there will be a translation posted.

TIME TO STOP QUOTING AND START CREATING!

Let me introduce myself; I am Alec Empire and I was born in West Berlin. I believe that I am the only ‘true’ Berliner in the current music scene. As far as I can tell, all the others claiming Berlin as their home, moved there to boost (or kill?), their careers. To be honest, I don’t think it matters that much… or shouldn’t in our age. I find myself talking to people from other continents more than those belonging to the so called local scene (I’m not really sure there is one and even if there is I’m not sure it’s what people would like to believe it is). Whatever, I suppose we all gain from the myth that comes with Berlin. Reality follows our imagination… Let’s hope so.

But it’s not about local scenes or absorbing something intangible from the air in Berlin. If you want to know your future you have to erase your past.

Please excuse my English. I have been touring recently and my crew and band are from France & USA. Somehow we all speak this weird mixture of languages. It’s hard to switch back to normal you know?

I am used to change. Dramatic changes in the case of my country. When I was a child I always sensed that post-World War II vibe – even decades later. Everybody has seen it in a film or read a book; but there are aspects Berliners have never really talked about in public. For example: how many women were raped at the end of the War? We can barely imagine that deep pain and its consequences on society. Then there’s the GDR and the Wall finally coming down. On the surface Berlin looks cool; parties, clubs like nowhere else in the world but to me it always feels like children celebrating themselves, dancing on a mass grave, not knowing, innocent… The beginning of Lord of the Flies.

Where I come from, the majority is a potential threat to the individual. The silent majority can decide over life and death of real people, just because they ignore political news on that day of the football match.

Change… Some feel threatened by change and others actually fear it and would become über-active just to stop it from happening. It makes them so nervous. I associate change with new opportunities and taking chances.

But I believe things are really changing. Right now! For the past nine years the music scene has reminded me of a dying dog, bleeding to death, bleeding dry and trying to bite its attackers who stand just out of reach, watching…

Hopefully by now, the majority of people have understood that doing nothing is the most powerful and damaging action they can take these days. Not buying a car, not buying music, not voting. Years ago I went on what most would call a ‘date’ and the girl didn’t know anything, she looked good, but that night I realized I was bored with that shiny surface of everything in our society. When I first heard John Coltrane I knew instantly that there was so much more than I could understand on the first listen. Music can store information and emotions that words and images fail to describe.

With most music that came out during the ‘Bush Era’ you could dig and dig and discover absolutely nothing. The past nine years have been a black hole – we can admit it now that this era is coming to an end. Musicians were scared, scared of not selling, of not being ‘accepted’. The social networks reflect that perfectly. Become popular at all costs. Lie, fake your profile (I am not talking about making it look the best it can be, but pretending you are someone else), use bots to get that snowball rolling, survive the download madness. If you are reading this and don’t know what I am talking about, compare the past few years with the 40′s or 50′s.

The music scene has been doing the same as the financial world; the exact same. Investing in non-existent capital, trying to create ‘value’ out of thin air. And most people have been busy making sure that they are on the ‘right’ side of things, where most people gather, than listening to their inner voice. Because being alone or out of step seemed to be the worst thing that could happen.

It was safer to quote others. Just don’t take the risk to be the first to try something that you might regret later. That is the worst environment for true creativity.

It has become obvious that capitalism has not brought us what it promised. Short term thinking, maximizing profits only works for a little while and then the whole system collapses.

I am fascinated how the game industry tricked kids into buying Guitar Hero. Do you want to play the guitar? Press this button. Pop Idol (American Idol) – it’s the same thing. Get to the top without skills and do it fast. The real pleasure of playing an instrument is the learning process, and then applying it. To then face your judge: the mob, the audience, the crowd.

I learned everything I know about music in the ‘underground’ scene. This is where people helped each other. If there is a great musician, who is so innovative that non musicians fail to see it, then everyone helps pushing, giving credits until it is understood (The Crystal Castles hypocritical slogan on the NME cover last year ‘we get sounds that nobody else gets’ while stealing them without crediting couldn’t describe better what I am trying to say here).

In the past, major record labels couldn’t live without the Indies, because they were unable to discover the new talent which had the potential to shape the future of music. It strikes me they have learned to love each other. Shrinking sales have made majors adapt marketing techniques which were first explored by the Indies, and the lines have been blurred so much sometimes it’s difficult to tell them apart. It’s like a boxing match where both contesters are just hugging each other. Boring to watch. No tension.

This is about to end now. I love how blogs challenge the traditional music press. The information is going up so fast, you are forced to think! Is that really true? Is that some bullshit hype? Who paid for that???

New music pops up here and there and by the time the machinery wants to grab it to package it and sell its tiny little soul, it’s already gone.

Philosopher Gilles Deleuze comes to mind… Imagine a tree with Red Hot Chilli Peppers sitting on top, Metallica and all the other mega bands just below. In the past every band wanted to climb that tree and take their place, like the monkey chief. In the future there won’t be any trees, friends, there will be only grass. And a lot of it. Fifteen minutes of fame reduced further to the length of a mouse click. In a globalised world, pop music like we used to define it, has no future.

What an exciting opportunity this holds!

It’s been 100 Days since Obama became King. He promised all sorts of shit and change. 99% of “the People” ate it up like a dope fiend chunks on chocolate. I told you it was a load of bullshit last year and that anyone who believed that Obama presented real change was just plain stupid. I told you that there is no way to fix the American political system. The Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same coin.

Wall Street bankers and the Military Industrial complex run Fascist America… And only ignorant people (who watch way too much TV) think otherwise. Do yourself a favor: try not to be so fucking ignorant.

The report card is in. Obama has failed miserably; he has broken all his promises. I told you he would. I scored a perfect 100. How did you score?

1) Obama promised to end torture and prosecute those responsible.

Instead he has excused torture and demanded more secret government. Obama’s score? Miserable failure: Zero. My score? 100% Absolutely correct.

2) He promised to close the Guantanamo torture camp.

Instead he has kept Guantanamo intact and with it at least 17,000 prisoners still remain. Obama lawyers won an appeal that ruled Guantanamo Bay prisoners were not ?persons,?so they have no right not to be tortured. Get that you low-life untermensch? You are persona non-gratis; you have no right not to be tortured. That goes for your mother and the rest of you? Neanderthals who actually think that existing political systems offer a chance for real change. Obama’s score? Miserable failure: Zero. My score? 100% Absolutely correct.

3) He promised to take an even hand with Israel and their jack-booted storm troopers.

Everywhere America’s unabated violence against innocent people; men, women and children, continues – or has been increasing – to this day. During the recent massacre in Gaza, reports New York Times writer Seymour Hersh, “…the Obama team let it be known that it would not object to the planned resupply of smart bombs and other hi-tech ordnance that was already flowing to Israel” and being used to slaughter mostly women and children.

In Pakistan, the number of civilians killed by US missiles called drones has more than doubled since Obama took office. Obama commits murder on a scale that exceeds that asshole GW Bush.

4) Obama promised to end the war in Iraq (Ha! Ha! Ha! Get this: Some people actually believed this shit!)

Finally, biggest pile of shit that a bunch of morons actually believed was when Obama announced that the US would pull out of Iraq. What? Do people actually have shit for brains? How could anyone be so stupid to actually think he would ever do that? Jesus Fucking Christ people! Think about it; if Iraq’s main industry were cabbage, do you think we would have invaded it in the first place? Hello? Iraq still has oil. Whether Bush or Obama is president, the oil is still there. It doesn’t take too much more than a third-grade education to figure out that Iraq is “ours” and the USA is not going to let it go. According to US army planners, as many as 70,000 troops will remain for the next 20 years.

I like to think that most of the folks who read this blog are more International than the average dumb-fuck American who has never been outside of Bum-Fuck Wisconsin, but some of the comments I formerly received, made me wonder. The polls are showing that a huge number of Americans believe they have been suckered by Obama’s bullshit ? especially as the nation’s economy has been entrusted to the same criminals who destroyed it.

Hell, those idiots threw about $10 billion dollars of taxpayers money at Chrysler and it went bankrupt yesterday? What a bunch of fucking stupid National Socialist morons. Yeah, Obama promised change. So he took Bush’s failed economic bailout programs and expanded them ten times larger. Change you can believe in.

In Afghanistan, US drones missile and kill two-year-old little girls and their soon-to-be terrorist 4-year-old brothers. USA! USA! USA! (Oh, and by the way, once again thanks to you cheerleaders for Obama too). Now the USA is building a series of permanent bases right across the entire country of Afghanistan where, says Secretary Gates, the US military will remain indefinitely. Obama’s score? Incredibly, he scores a minus ten here. My score? Once again, 100% absolutely correct.

Only the incredibly naive or impossibly stupid would think that having an Obama or a Bush, or whoever, as US president would make a difference.

I told you so. Wake up. Realize that there is no difference between a Communist, Fascist, Democratic, or Socialist Government when it comes to their real purpose; the true purpose of all governments is to maintain the status of the aristocrats and to keep the people down. The purpose of all government is to expand their authority. Only a fool, who knows no history, thinks otherwise.

The vote doesn’t matter, people; if voting mattered it would be outlawed.

It pisses me off that so many people consider themselves “Liberal” or “Enlightened” yet they are so stupid to think that one man could possibly change the American Evil Empire. It enrages me that so many people are so fucking stupid that they can be so easily manipulated by the idiot media into being “sold” a man to vote for and actually think it will matter. It’s just depressing that the TV has such a hold on people brains and their balls that they can’t see what should be plain as day. Fuck!

It’s Mid March and it looks as the euphoria of the Obama win has disappeared. Most people have turned away from politics (or should we call it mass media election entertainment?), thinking that it’s all safe and taken care of.

Every time Alex Jones appears (and he is a Foo Fighters fan, which makes us question his true intentions – yes, when you are a mid 30ties woman who thinks the drummer is “cute”, you are maybe forgiven…But Alex Jones and Foo Fighters? get outta here) it is time to look at ourselves…do we get all emotional when this guy screaming at us? Is he right?

Is this a conspiracy theory? What do you think?

Has our generation fallen for a president because our “taste” has been exploited?….our taste for hip hop culture and US MTV? Jay Z? If a “black” president is elected, can you criticize him in the same way as all the others? Fact is it is hard to raise awareness in times when people are scared to lose their jobs and love the charisma of a leader.

They can make you dance, smile, laugh and cry…but the best thing is, they can make you get kids and believe.

ENTERTAINMENT AND PAIN. an interview with Miron Zownir regarding his film ‘Phantomanie’.

Preview Screening during “Transducers! Festival” in Berlin at Tresor on 12th of February 2009 was a success. We posted a German interview a few days ago. This is the translation by M.A.Littler.

After several attempts you have now made your first feature films. Why has it taken so long?

Zownir: “I had already written screenplays in the 80?s in New York and L.A. that anticipated several things that Tarantino then realized in the 90′s.
But my then producer Chosei Funahara insisted on doing a flic in the Philippines first because he hoped to be able to raise a larger budget for our film that way.

Unfortunately that film turned out to be a flop as I had expected and Funahara never recovered.
We had been preparing my film ‘The Contender’ for three years. We had a great cast lined up ? Peter Fonda, David Terriffick and Richard Edson (Stranger than Paradise).

When I got word that the Philipino film killed our project, I threw my videorecorder and television set out of the closed window and was arrested, tied up and almost killed by a fascist LAPD deathsquad.
After that my screenplay ?The Loser? was rejected by ?Das kleine Fernsehspiel?, claiming that the German audience could not be confronted with such violence and obscenities.
Even the support of internationally acclaimed actors couldn?t eleviate the fear of the financiers that my films would pass the boundaries of the tolerable.

What is ‘Phantomanie’ about?

Zownir: “I believe that today’s materialistic hegemony, the blind faith in progress and the uncontrollable globalisation of power and economy paired with the idolatry of fame and an anachronistic monotheism triggers our primal fears.

Who am I? How or based on who can orientate myself. Who can I still trust? How can I survive without becoming part of the inhuman machinery? How can I protect my emotions and individuality when everything can be duplicated and replaced.

Perhaps those are not the fears of the majority but much rather the fears of those who refuse to conform. But that?s probably the target audience I want to connect with and that I identify with.”

Natalia Avelon plays a prostitute in Phantomanie.

That doesn’t sound like entertainment.

Zownir: “My films are an amalgamation of entertainment and pain. You can laugh and cry about the helplessness, confusion and anger that my characters experience. But the mere fact that they fight back and have to find a way through the chaos of their psychotic dreams and illusions makes them rebels of sorts. Even if they fail, they have more in common with one of Crumb’s comic heroes than a good looking Hollywood loser.

They’re overdriven, distorted and far from the norms of mass production, designed on the drawing boards, that everyone wants to supposedly see. None the less they are realer than the common media puppets that the German televison networks force upon their audience.“

There is a particular passage in your collection of short stories ‘Parasites of Helplessness’, in wich a journalist tells a director: ‘you make films for lunatics, sadists and pilgrims on their way to hell. In how far does that apply to you?

Zownir: (laughs) “Everyone should see my films. I have no reservations or fear of contact.”

Bruno S. performed in his first feature film in thirty years. How did you convince him?

Zownir: “I had already made a documentary about him and he trusts me. He plays a mixture of a moronic bum and an all knowing philosopher, a character that mediates between dreams and reality ? he does the same for himself in real life.”

Bruno is known as an icon of amateur acting, who no one wanted to touch after he made films with Herzog.

Zownir: “I freed him from that Herzog corsette, which is really limited to the poor, ridiculed outsider.
The scene in which Bruno becomes the werewolf-like strangler will most likely not please most of his fans. But Bruno is more than merely part of the Herzog mythology and I gave him the opportunity to prove that.”

What was your collaboration with Alec Empire like? He is known to be eccentric not unlike yourself.

Zownir: “When working with me every genius eccentric has a jester’s license’let’s say within the boundaries of what I am trying to say. With Alec I had to make no compromises because he understood the film better than I did (laughs). Our collaboration could not have been better.”

Your photographs, novels, stories and films are hard to digest for most people. Could one refer to you as an iconoclast?

Zownir: “I believe on your way to self-realization, you must first tear down all barriers before you know where it is that you want to go. As soon as I encounter taboos, I feel provoked, I get uncomfortable and try to question them. Looking at it from this angle, I haven’t learned all that much within the past thirty years (laughs). Call it what you will, but I believe what distinguishes me is the courage of the uncensored word or image.
The moral imperative of post-war Germany is hard to digest or to accept because their moral ambassadors, as we well known are the biggest opportunists and cowards.”

One of your lead actors Frederic Geay died during the post production of Phantomanie due to an asthmatic attack. In his part he continuously talks about death. Do you see a connection?

Zownir: “Freddy was a good friend of mine and I knew he was asthmatic. In a way he played himself and he addressed fears that tortured him his entire life. Yet at the same time he was optimistic, enjoyed life and defied it all with humor and charme. Freddy’s death was a shock to us all. Everyone that worked with him liked and respected him. I would have made many more films with him.”

Wir hatten uns drei Jahre lang auf meinen Film ?The Contender? vorbereitet, der mit Peter Fonda, David Terrifick und Richard Edson (Stranger than Paradise) gl?nzend besetzt war. Als ich die Nachricht erhielt, dass der Philippinofilm unser Projekt gekillt hatte, habe ich meinen Fernseher und Taperecorder durch das geschlossene Fenster geworfen und bin von einem Sturmtrupp faschistischer LA-Bullen, an H?nden und F??en gefesselt, beinahe totgeschlagen worden.
Sp?ter wurde mein Drehbuch ?Der Versager? von kleinen Fernsehspiel mit der Begr?ndung abgelehnt, dass man dem deutschen Fernsehpublikum, meine Gewaltszenen und Obsz?nit?ten nicht zumuten k?nnte. Selbst die Unterst?tzung namhafter, internationaler Schauspieler konnte den verantwortlichen Geldgebern nicht die Angst davor nehmen, dass meine Filme ?ber die Toleranzgrenze, der Tolerierbaren hinausgehen w?rden.”

Um was geht es in Phantomanie?

Zownir: “Ich glaube, dass die heutige Zeit der materiellen Hegemonie, des blinden Vertrauens an den Fortschritt und der un?berschaubaren Globalisierung der Macht und der Wirtschaft, gepaart mit einem g?tzen?hnlichen Starkult und anachronistischen Monotheismus, unsere Ur?ngste triggert.

Wer bin ich? An wen oder was kann ich mich orientieren? Wem kann man noch trauen? Wie kann ich mich behaupten, ohne ein Teil der menschenverachtenden Maschinerie zu werden? Wie kann ich meine Emotionen, Gef?hle und Individualit?t retten, wenn alles duplizierbar und austauschbar ist?
Vielleicht sind das nicht die ?ngste, die die Mehrheit empfindet, sondern eher derer, die sich nicht anpassen wollen. Aber das ist wahrscheinlich die Zielgruppe mit der ich mich identifiziere und die ich ansprechen will.”

Klingt nicht gerade nach Entertainment.

Zownir: “Meine Filme sind eine Mischung aus Entertainment und Schmerz. Man kann ?ber die Hilflosigkeit, Verwirrung und Wut meiner Charaktere ebenso lachen wie heulen. Aber allein die Tatsache, dass sie sich wehren und sich im Chaos ihrer psychotischen Tr?ume und Illusionen zurechtfinden m?ssen, macht sie zu einer Art von Rebellen. Selbst wenn sie scheitern haben sie mehr von einem Komikhelden von Crumb als von einem gutaussehenden Hollywoodloser.

?bersteuert, verzerrt und weit von der Normierung, der am Rei?brett konzipierten Massenware, die angeblich alle sehen wollen, sind sie dennoch reeller als die ?blichen Medienmarionetten, die von dem deutschen Fernsehanstalten ihrem Publikum aufgedr?ngt werden.”

In einer Passage aus deiner Shortstorysammlung ?Parasiten der Ohnmacht?, sagt ein Journalist zu einem Regisseur, ?Sie machen Filme f?r Geisteskranke, Sadisten und Pilger auf dem Weg in die H?lle.? Inwieweit trifft das auf dich zu?

Zownir: (lacht) “Meine Filme sollen alle sehen. Ich habe keine Ber?hrungs?ngste.”

Bruno S. hat seit 30 Jahren seinen ersten Spielfilm gedreht. Wie hast du ihn dazu ?berredet?

Zownir: “Ich habe bereits eine Doku ?ber ihn gedreht und er hat mir vertraut. Er spielt eine Mischung aus debilem Penner und allwissenden Philosophen, eine Figur, die zwischen Traum und Wirklichkeit vermittelt, wie er das im wirklichen Leben mit sich selber tut.”

Bruno gilt als Ikone der Leiendarsteller, den nach Herzog keiner mehr anfassen wollte.

Zownir: “Ich habe ihn aus dem Herzogkorsett befreit, dass im Grunde genommen auf den armen, verspotteten Au?enseiter reduziert ist. Mit der Szene wo Bruno zum werwolf?hnlichen W?rger wird, werden sich die meisten seiner Fans nicht anfreunden k?nnen. Aber Bruno ist mehr als ein Teil der Herzogmythologie und ich habe ihm die Chance gegeben, dass zu beweisen.”

Wie war deine Zusammenarbeit mit Alec Empire? Er gilt ?hnlich wie du, als schwierig.

Zownir: “Bei mir hat jeder geniale Exzentriker Narrenfreiheit, d. h. im Rahmen dessen, was ich verwirklichen will. Aber bei Alec musste ich keinerlei Einschr?nkungen machen, weil er den Film besser verstanden hat als ich. (lacht) Unsere Zusammenarbeit h?tte nicht besser sein k?nnen.”

Deine Fotos, Romane, Storys und Filme sind f?r viele schwer zu verdauen. K?nnte man dich als einen Ikonoklasten bezeichnen?

Zownir: “Ich glaube, dass man in seinem Drang zur Selbstverwirklichung immer zuerst alle Schranken niederrei?en muss, bevor man sich dar?ber klar werden kann, wohin man will. Sobald ich auf Tabus treffe, f?hle ich mich provoziert, werde unangenehm und versuche sie zu hinterfragen. In dieser Hinsicht habe ich in den letzten 30 Jahren nicht viel dazu gelernt (lacht). Man kann das nennen wie man will, aber ich glaube, dass was mich auszeichnet ist der Mut zum unzensierten Wort oder Bild.

Der moralische Imperativ der Nachkriegsdeutschen ist deshalb so schwer zu verdauen oder zu akzeptieren, weil ihre sch?rfsten Vertreter aus moralischen Instanzen besteht, von denen man einfach wei?, dass sie die gr??ten Opportunisten und Feiglinge sind.”

Einer deiner Hauptdarsteller, Frederic Geay ist w?hrend der Postproduktion von Phantomanie an einem asthmatischen Anfall erstickt. In seiner Rolle spricht er ununterbrochen vom Tod. Siehst du darin einen Zusammenhang?

Zownir: “Ich war gut mit Freddy befreundet und wusste, dass er seit seiner Kindheit Asthmatiker war. Im Grunde genommen hat er sich selbst gespielt und von ?ngsten geredet, die ihn ein Leben lang qu?lten. Aber gleichzeitig war er optimistisch, lebensfroh und hatte sich mit Humor und Charme dar?ber hinweggesetzt. Freddys Tod hat uns alle ersch?ttert. Jeder der mit ihm zusammenarbeitete, hat ihn gesch?tzt und gemocht. Ich h?tte noch viele Filme mit ihm gemacht.”

Oh, I mean, Mr. Obama. (I’m starting to get these guys confused.)

Then for Obama’s second great move, he ordered the courts to allow warrant

Now, he wants to make a “Big Bad

take all the bad money from our “Big Good Banks” (who are all about to
go bankrupt) and he wants Americans to pay for it. This is a very stupid idea -
like all government ideas are.

Bush was hated because he used tax-payers money to make his friend’s rich.
Obama says we must change and pull together. So what Obama means is, instead
of making rich friends richer, he wants us all to become poor together.

Obama wants to getting credit flowing for car loans, more credit cards, more
Americans buying junk; but this only serves to make the problem much worse.
What he doesn’t understand is that the people are broke and in debt up to
their asses. They don’t need more credit; they need more jobs. And not jobs
that are paid for by the taxpayer. Real jobs making something to be sold to
the Japanese, Chinese, Europeans, etc. That’s real wealth!

Obama has all ready fucked up big time, in my book. That attacking a house
in Pakistan, and killing three children, seals it for me. This guy is shit.
Think about it, you only need to take a small sip of wine to know if it
tastes any good. This Obama sip makes me gag and spit it out.

He’s put in Washington insiders all around him; has a cabinet full of
war-hawks; stealing tax money to flush down the shit hole; and now, he is
officially a murderer.

Here’s my predictions for what’s going to happen before the next four years
are up during Obama:

1) America will default on it’s debt within the next 2 -3 years under
Obama. (Meaning the US will go bankrupt)

2) There will be massive food riots all over the United States. As well as
massive shootings, unrest, and social upheaval.

3) U.S. unemployment will surpass 25%

4) The value of the dollar will go to half of what it is today with 2.5
years.

The good part?

A bankrupt America won’t, at least, be able to afford to be
killing children around the world by dropping bombs on them or hitting their
homes with missiles.

If this is the “Change” we get. I’ll take it.

The Reason Nothing Will Change Under an Obama Presidency

Any serious student of America knows that American history is littered with massive crime and the deaths of millions upon millions of?innocent victims. As famous American historian, William Blum wrote: “If you flip over the rock of American foreign policy of the past century, this is what crawls out…invasions … bombings … overthrowing…governments … suppressing movements….for social change … assassinating….political leaders … perverting…elections … manipulating labor unions …manufacturing “news” … death squads …torture … biological warfare …depleted uranium … drug trafficking …mercenaries … It’s not a pretty picture. It is enough to give imperialism a bad name.”

Empires destroy freedom and start aggression. The USA has been involved with the creation of an empire since before 1848.

In 1861, Abraham Lincoln launched a war of aggression, killing 600,000 Americans, brothers killing brothers, brothers sisters, killing people who actually voted for Lincoln to protect them. The so called “Civil War” wasn’t about slavery. It was about States rights. If the war was about slavery, like the BS history books state, then why weren’t the slaves freed before the war started? Why did two Northern States have slaves up until two years after the war started? This type of hypocrisy is synonymous with American history.

The story is a long one that could never be filled in in a short column such as this. Read this if you want to know the truth: “The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History by Thomas E. Woods Jr” This book will open your eyes to what the truth is about American imperialism, politics, well, American history as it really is.

Consider, if you will, just a piece of the current situation; Obama has stated that he will not prosecute George Bush & Company for war crimes. Why? It’s obvious. Because the Democratic party voted with Bush for every single pro-war bill concerning the Afghan war and the Iraq war. Obama himself abstained many times because he knew that if he voted against these bills promoting, or prolonging the war, he would be finished within the Democratic Party itself. Even more so, any indictment against Bush and Company is an indictment against Obama’s own political party and his political lifeblood.

No. He knew that if he wanted to be president, he’d have to play the game. Now that he is president, he’s in way too deep. He has sold his soul and there’s no turning back. It’s been that way with every US president. When they got elected, people were happy….People celebrated. Soon, the celebrations ended and people were pissed off with more of the same. Think about it, name one US president in the last 50 years who didn’t bomb another country or start a war, or try to attack another country. Can’t do it because there’s no such president. Obama won’t break the mold.

Consider the fact that Obama has chosen Hillary Clinton – as pro-war as any Republican – as Secretary of State; named high ranking Republicans to his inner cabinet; kept on Bush’s appointment, Robert Gates, as Defense Secretary… The list goes on and on. Nope, there’s not one single anti-war politician in Obama’s inner circle. Think about what that means.

While you are thinking, here’s a test. Who said this?

“I want the Iranians to know that… we will attack Iran if it attacked Israel. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.”

Was it:

A) George W. Bush
B) Dick Cheney
C) Hillary Clinton
D) John McCain

Answer: C) Hillary Clinton. As much of a war-hawk as any American politician, Republican or Democrat.

Who said this?

“Hamas (is) a terrorist organization and the United States should not be dealing with them until they recognize Israel, renounce terrorism, and abide by previous agreements.”

Was it:

A) Barack Obama
B) John McCain
C) Hillary Clinton
D) George W. Bush

Answer: A) Barack Obama. Sounds like every other American president in recent memory.

Just a small point, why should Hamas be forced to stick to any agreements with Israel? Israel has ignored at least 131 UN resolutions since 1967 telling her to get out of the West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights, etc., etc., Why doesn’t Obama say anything about this? These reason why is, folks, Obama’s “Change” was a catch-copy… It has been used over and over in American politics, yet nothing changes.

Bill Clinton ran on a campaign of “Change”; So did Ronald Reagan; so did Jimmy Carter; and now, Barack Obama. Face facts, as with every other US president, nothing will change under an Obama presidency.

Of course the presidency is a problem, but the real problem with America, or any country for that matter, is a giant government out of control that wishes to dictate to the people how to live their lives. Understand that the purpose of government – all government is to expand. Regardless of the problem, the government’s answer is to expand and create new department’s and divisions.

While the scourge of large governments exists on this world (Socialist, Fascists, Communist, Democratic, etc), there will never be peace. It doesn’t matter to the War Machine who is the face of the government, trust that the inner workings do not change.? It matters not what the color of your skin is to the monster. To think otherwise is incredibly naive and foolish and shows an incredible lack of knowledge of history.

Don’t say that you weren’t warned; Very soon you will all be disillusioned with Barack Obama. It’s not a wild guess; it’s a merely a matter of history repeating itself.

I can say it and while I almost can?t believe it myself. Obama puts me in a better mood. I need a guy like him to be president now. Seriously. The Bush family drove me to the edge of suicide too many times. His path is difficult. The march through the system (which all the others so far have lost.).
But just the statement alone (?1st African American President?) will hopefully make it easier in the future to focus on the politics.

How often did important discussions end up with some Hip Hop gang shouting at me:?But how can you say that? We never even had our own president…? And I was always:? You know …I am German…it is perhaps better to just stop here…because you are talking to me like I am a white American.?
Of course I should have not stopped…because every time some coke head from Wall Street decides something, real people with families and responsibilities have to eat more shit.(Even in Germany, America is our problem.)
So now we are at least one step further.

Over here I can already feel change. Yes, I saw it… ignorant and racist people watch what they say. Almost like Obama protects everyone who has ?darker? skin.
I see police act very careful because the emigrant from Africa could be his next boss.
(This is how these simple minds work. They put authority above themselves. So this is progress.)

Obama could even the tide. If he screws it up, revolution is in sight.

When I watch American TV on the internet though, I get the feeling that most Americans feel too great too early. It is disgusting.

Just by getting rid of one face and replacing it with another, nothing changes.

I know this too well. The Germans elected Adolph Hitler. And the same Germans lived decades later and tried to not feel guilty. (How much do I hate that line ?But I wasn?t born back then.? No, you weren?t but with that mind set you would have probably done the same thing.)

And this leads me right to Israel and Gaza, Mike.
I know many Jews here in Germany. And most live under the radar, because they know they will be discriminated against by Germans, Neo-Nazis, Leftists, Christians, Punks, Skinheads, Arabs….so basically by everyone.
I don?t buy the whole underdog thing that makes Palestine so ?hip? amongst people over here.
Every time I wanted to have an intelligent discussion about this, every pro-Hamas person wanted to cut my throat, called me anything from ?Homosexual? to ?Nazi?. So I ended the thing and walked away.

For most people in the world this conflict is almost a football game.

Hamas is using children as human shields. That?s evil. To then send out image after image of dead children into the world is propaganda. War is always a crime committed by all sides involved. So it is even more important to fight thinking that will later lead to war.

I live in Kreuzberg in Berlin. I had to say to an American friend who is Jewish that he should perhaps not mention his religion to anyone out here. The next moment I got so angry that I wanted to walk into one of these men only bars with an Israel flag…what the fuck!??

Most of these guys want to erase Jewish people from the planet. Until they don?t change that ?view?, there is no reason to even listen to their crap. (I don?t know about you, but I always feel weird when Neo-Nazis start to hang out with Syrians and far right Catholics and plan to free the world from the Jewish ?plague? or homosexuals or women or whatever the next goal is.)

At some point I decided that this conflict is way too complex for me to make any judgement.

HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR!

While music journalists in Germany are wondering what happened to pop music (yes, we said it years ago. In a globalized economy national pop music is becoming less relevant every year. Music , after all, is not that different to the rest of the economy.) , we continue our path into the future.

Just got back from Portugal, crazy New Years Eve rave with 2000+ kids going mental (we know this term is totally British and a taboo term in modern Indie music, that’s why it has to be used again from now on. Creds to Garagem to make it happen!). Hardcore, hardcore hardcore. Drug music, dangerous and without any context to what we used to call western pop music.

People are angry, that’s why.

Gone is the decade of whiny upper class kids who pay their way into the music scene (because nobody else can afford it any longer). People feel and know that middle and working class have been pushed down by the super rich over the past decade, and now the dream of the rising working class rock’n'roll band has been lost…maybe forever.

(Remember, mostly, these images were marketing campaigns to sell a “product” to us. “These guys are like you, now go buy it.” We were never into buying music that reminds us of our neighbors…why? Because we hate them as much as they hate us.)

Now is the time for a new underground to emerge. NOW!

We want music which is exciting, thrilling, passionate, dangerous and unpredictable. The minds of the new generation are open and ready for change. It won’t happen in one day, but the door is open and it will stay open… for a while.

Those who sit back, those who are passive and expect corporations to deliver everything to them, will be left behind.

The new listener is active, is searching the internet for new music, the new listener is questioning any written information about music (yes, you, you journalists who have become the little finger of the corporates. You lost your integrity, once lost, no way to get it back…that’s part of the game.), the new listener is making up his/her own mind, creating his/her own taste. The new listener is thinking, because knowledge and ideas are gold in this era.

The old way of capitalism has failed. Even many conservatives are waking up now. In Paris we have seen more burning cars on New Years Eve than ever before.

We don’t need guns, our weapon is the mind…and we are ready to riot at any time.

I don’t need to say that our solidarity is with those who supported, lost and loved Alexandros Grigoropoulos.
(I didn’t want to say anything right away, because too many bands try to sell something on the back of those tragedies. And I hate that. But we received so many emails asking where we stand, I wanted to get it out. This is where we stand!)

The super rich are not paying taxes, why does the police protect them? They should protect the people. Us.

IT DON’T MATTER IF THEY’RE BLACK OR WHITE

Visionaries & Voices art studio event for artists with disabilities, autism, etc.

Many of you know that for the last five years I?ve been involved with an art studio for artists with disabilities called Visionaries & Voices.
Many of the artists have autism or various challenges and the art studio lets them be seen as an artist first without the other labels that have been placed on them throughout their lives. In the studio, and in the gallery exhibits of their work, they are seen for what they can do, rather than for
what people think they cannot do.

There is a section about the studio and the artists there on the documentary film about my work called The Alchemy of Art.

Take a good look at the photo, because while that gallery show was happening, at the very time the photo was taken, a fire broke out in Antonio Adam?s apartment building and burnt it down.

The good news is that Antonio and his family were at the gallery show of his art, so that saved their life and they were not in the building. The bad news, is that they lost everything in the fire.

This week there will be some benefit fundraisers to help Antonio and his family survive until they can get a new place to live.
There will be auctions of his art and art from other artists of Visionaries & Voices. I will be donating a variety of work, books, and prints as well to help raise money for the event.

I will not be at the Thursday fundraiser because I?ll be in NY, but I plan to attend the Saturday Fundraiser at Shake It records. Anyone is welcome to attend in person, or contribute on line at the Visonaries & Voices website here:

In The Know: Should The Government Stop Dumping Money Into A Giant Hole?

One side wants to tax the people and give the money to incompetent business people… The other side wants to give the money to just plain incompetent people. The government wants to take a slice of the money off the top. This is why we have these crises and “Wars” (War on Drugs, War on Terrorism, War on Poverty, Bullshit like Global Warming). The government needs these kinds of nonsense as they are never-ending, they can never be ‘won,’ so they can tax us forever… For our own good, of course.

Take the effort to help the homeless (or whatever the fuck they call that). One time a friend I know told me that he thought that the government had to held homeless people. This is an idea that I strongly disagree with. My friend’s logic was that any homeless person’s situation is, in some way, partially societies fault. This is bullshit. I replied, “So what you are saying is that guy who is homeless and sleeping under the bridge at the train station is partially your fault?”

“It’s not my fault!” He replied.

I jumped down his lame-assed bleeding heart liberal bullshit and said, “Well it’s not my fault either. So if you claim that being homeless is partially societies fault, but it’s not your fault and it’s not mine, then who is ‘society’?”

See? This kind of thinking is BS.

Basically, this is what Obama’s stupid ideas are all about. Take money from people who do work hard and have jobs and give that money to lazy incompetent fucks. Whereas the idiot Republicans want to take that money and give it to their lazy criminal fucks.

Folks, there’s no way that the government can ever help the homeless problem. Hell, those morons can’t even fix a hole in the road correctly. About 20 years ago, in Osaka, Japan, the government had the bright idea that they were going to help the homeless by building this giant ‘tent’ that could feed and sleep 4,000 homeless people a night. Osaka has always had a problem with too many homeless. This ridiculous tent idea was a big event with all the fanfare and mass media promotion about how our glorious leaders were taking care of us by spending our money on their stupid projects (while paying their friends, of course).

Well, the tent opened up and they expected to have it full within a few weeks. Guess what? On the first night about 20 homeless people showed up. Well, duh! Even if the idiots in the government ran huge advertising campaigns in newspapers and on TV, how many homeless people do you think saw those? By the end of a month the tent has served about 100 people and was shaping up to be a multi-million dollar disaster – which it eventually turned out to be. The tent was closed a few years later as a miserable failure and today is used for rock concerts. Osaka still has a huge homeless problem.

Think about it, folks. There are some people who are so derelict that even if you told them that you’d give them free food and housing, that they won’t take it. Why? Well, after being homeless for a while that’s got to fuck your brain up and make you crazy (not eating well, etc, etc…) Also, if the government runs something, then that means they need paperwork. The homeless people would have to show up at a government office, fill out forms, give names, etc., the morons in the government would insist upon routine health checks, etc., You get the picture.

The homeless are homeless because, among many reasons, they have dropped out of society due to stress, health problems, money problems, no job, family matters, etc., They are homeless because they don’t want to have to deal with the kind of shit that dealing with the government entails. Hell, does anyone want to deal with government paperwork? Do you?

This is why Obama’s ideas are sure to fail. Expect the US government to be insolvent by summer of 2009.

Germany, as a result, will be fucked up too, but only for a short while. German people, like Japanese people, actually save money and have healthy industries. Once the blood sucking parasite of the American empire is gone, then the jerkoffs in our governments can take that money and spend it on infrastructure at home – instead of dumping it the American Money Hole.
