So I am in the middle of recordings a new album…and friends keep asking me:” Alec, where does your rage come from these days???” yeah I know…every president speech is so uplifting I can’t really draw anything from that… with the pencil in my hand, the weapon of the poet, I sit over my blank pages…a book full of them… but then God, the almighty sends me an inspiration, the one above….so powerful, no CEO could make me more angry… yes, and it’s in disguise…I assume most of you wouldn’t even notice… be careful artists can manipulate you. They can make you dance, smile, laugh and cry…but the best thing is, they can make you get kids and believe.

Funny. Because when I tell people I don’t want children, I get reamed by people from across the political spectrum. The lefties tell me I’m not adding to the future social system; the righties tell me I’m being selfish and stuck in a false youth. Right. So the only way to contribute is to be a brood mare? Charming. As fucking charming as the indentured servitude that is matrimony.
I’ve often wondered how genuine is this supposedly natural urge toward reproduction. To me, it actually seems anti-survivalist: you have a kid, and suddenly, they have you by the balls. According to most of the parents I know, they would do anything for their children, including dying and killing. Or, maybe joining political parties of dubious natures to keep said children alive? Wasn’t that why some of the people joined the Nazis, because they couldn’t support their families without inclusion in the party? You will do whatever is demanded of you to keep those kids alive. You will obey. Or how about the wankers that go out and buy SUVs to drive their kids to school, knowing that if they hit a child, that child will most likely die? RIght, so now their children aren’t only more important than themselves, they are now also more important than other children.
We are told so much that the desire for children is natural, but for whom is it natural? And why are they the only ones who matter? Is it really that natural, or have we been so fed that line for so long that we don’t even question it? And even if those urges are natural, why would it be so wrong to deny them, the same way we deny the urge for more food when we know we’ve had enough but still want more?
Today Britain has announced that its teen pregnancy rate is soaring yet again. Shit as it is that people are willfully denying themselves life before it’s even begun, I can’t say it’s even remotely surprising. When your entire culture is bound up selling this dream of family as a stabilizing force (when it so blatantly is not) then of course you buy into it. Women then become little more than prize sows and the myth of republican motherhood is trotted out for their delectation. And they eat is up like slop.
It’s simple: forcing a woman to have a baby she doesn’t want is an act of rape. But making her believe that she wants one is an even bigger mindfuck.
God, I’ve got to learn to say these things in one line or less. How does everyone else manage?!?!

Interesting point of view you’ve got there, Belle.
As for SUV’s, I don’t think it really makes a difference…people who can’t drive shouldn’t buy cars. They should be important – their own kids. Too bad mostly it’s about showing off. “Oooh, daddy’s got a nice SUV!”, yet the nanny knows more about the kids like daddy does. As long as I like parties better than kids, I won’t let anyone manipulate me. Accidents happen though. Until then I say “I’m too selfish and fucked up to have kids”.
Where I’m from some people have kids to get social benefits (=money). How fucked up is that? Of course the kids don’t even go to high school and they end up on the streets eventually (if the girls don’t get knocked up at the age of 13!!! and the circle closes again), cos what do they see from their parents? That they go to the local governments for aids and benefits (or worse, they steal from other people), cos they’re better off with that, than with actually working. Now, our government is raising taxes yet again, cos the country is on the edge of bankcruptcy (again). And then they wonder why people cheat with taxes or why is the black economy getting stronger and stronger… Nothing new, but still, I’m getting a bit pissed off that they are making us/me pay for their incompetency.

I think all of our many ministers should donate their fancy cars for the better cause. That’s what I think. And then half of their monthly salary. wuahahaha I’m joking this away, although we’re headed to dangerous times. Almost as dangerous as it was before the second world war. Nationalism is growing again, decadent ideologies are getting popular, cos people are getting poorer. They want change and they want it fast.

Funny, loggedin, but most of the people that I had in mind when I wrote that first post actually do subscribe in some manner to nationalist views. Quite a few of the teen parents I know spout the rhetoric quite readily, even if they don’t know where they actually got it from. They really seem to believe that they would get more from the government (eg housing, benefits) if only in weren’t for all those damn foreigners, coming over here, taking our houses, taking our jobs. (God people, change the record.) Never mind, of course, that incompetent, ill-educated parents end up being much bigger drains on resources. Since these people don’t actually seem to be breeding to increase their race (at least, they don’t say it as such) I can only assume that the connection is somewhere in education or lack thereof. And also, some sense of entitlement that, I’m having a kid, so I deserve to be taken care of.
I think ministers should be forced to volunteer (ok, not strictly volunteering if it’s forced, but…) for social programs. Actually, I think some sort of widespread volunteer effort would be a really good thing for everyone. I know it wouldn’t happen, and if it did it would just be in the guise of some sort of national service, but I think if we could find a way to do it without the military aspect it might benefit a lot of people.
